How the work permit works

The usual route for skilled workers from India:

1. 1

   Employer registers your short-term employment with the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA).

2. 2

   You apply for an Estonian long-stay (D) visa at the embassy or visa centre.

3. 3

   For longer contracts, the employer supports a temporary residence permit for employment.

Living & working there

• Salaries are paid in euro into a local bank account.
• Most everyday services are online. You will receive a personal ID code.
• Shared accommodation near the site is common. Check your offer for details.
• Climate: Cold, dark winters (often below −10 °C) and mild summers.
