How the work permit works

The usual route for skilled workers from India:

1. 1

   Employer gets approval to hire you and starts your work and residence application.

2. 2

   You apply for a Lithuanian national (D) visa or temporary residence permit through the Migration Department.

3. 3

   After arrival you collect your residence permit card and register your address.

Living & working there

• Salaries are paid in euro into a local bank account.
• Living costs are lower than in Western Europe.
• Accommodation near the shipyard is often arranged by the employer. Check your offer for details.
• Climate: Cold winters (often below −5 °C) and mild summers.
