About the job
Fit up steel structures, frames and ship or machine assemblies to drawings so they are ready for welding.
What you'll do
- Read drawings and mark out positions, lines and holes
- Position, align and clamp plates, beams and profiles
- Tack weld parts in place with the correct gaps and angles
- Cut and adjust steel with gas cutting and grinders
- Check dimensions, squareness and tolerances before welding
What you need
- At least 2 years of steel or structural fitting experience
- Able to read structural or fabrication drawings
- Can tack weld and use gas cutting safely
- Comfortable working with cranes and at height
- Able to pass a practical trade test
- Passport valid for at least 2 years
- Basic English for safety instructions
